What Access Control Installation Actually Involves
Access control installation is not simply mounting a keypad on a wall. It begins with a proper assessment of your existing door hardware — the frame, the lock prep, the door thickness, and how the door swings. From there, our technicians recommend the system that fits without forcing modifications that could compromise the door's structural integrity. We work on hollow-metal commercial doors, solid wood heritage doors, aluminum-frame storefronts, and everything in between. When the existing lock prep is a full mortise pocket, we can fit a purpose-built access control mortise lock — a single housing that combines a heavy-duty deadbolt or latch mechanism with an integrated electronic reader, eliminating the need for separate surface-mounted hardware and keeping the installation clean and tamper-resistant.
The installation process covers wiring (where hardwired readers are chosen), credential programming (PIN codes, fob pairing, or smartphone credentials depending on the platform), door position sensor placement, and a full function test before our technician leaves the site. We aim for damage-free installation wherever the door and frame allow, and we always confirm an exact up-front price before any work begins — no surprise additions on the invoice.
